So I signed up to get a text message from Obama telling me his VP choice. Although its supposed to come out tomorrow or the day after, when I got a message today, I didn't question it.
I was sitting by the side of the pool (MY pool. SWEET.) reading The Name of the Wind when my phone beeped. I flipped it open and it read
"From: (6266 - Obama Nation) Obama has announced his VP selection, Barney Franks. For more information visit obama.com."
I didn't stop to think. Of course Franks hadn't been mentioned by ANYONE as a possibility, but candidates have pulled crazy names like that before. As soon as I could draw in breath I started screaming. I ran into the house found Guille (who I knew had also signed up for the text message) and fell on the floor as I continued to yell out my excitement, joy, awe, etc. A black president with an openly gay VP? Forget his issues with trans people, this was unbelievable! Guille couldn't get a word in edgewise, but I knew from his laugh that he was as surprised as I.
Until he pointed to his computer screen. Upon which I saw a program that sends anonymous text messages for free to people's phones.
And then, my friends, I died. But DAMN that was a good prank.
